THE Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Dorcas Federation is currently underway in Lokuru in Rendova Island, Western Province.
More than 300 Dorcas from SDA Churches in Rendova, Marovo and Gatokae (REMAGATO) are attending this religious event.
Minister of the Tirongo SDA Church of Baniata Community, Ken Silas confirmed this federation to Solomon Star in an interview yesterday. He spoke to Solomon Star from Lokuru.
Bangopingo SDA Church is the host of this amazing and warm-touching event.
According to Silas, the welcome ceremony was held on Monday before the official opening and march past on Wednesday morning.
The programme featured morning devotions, afternoon sessions and evening worship.
Minister Silas said the people of Lokuru have dramatized heathenism and how people of Lokuru have transitioned from worshiping idols to worshiping the true living God when the missionaries arrived in Bangopingo, where the SDA Church is now located.
The Communication Director of the Solomon Islands Mission (SIM) of SDA, Lonnie Liligeto is the Guest Speaker and she emphasized the importance of women and how they can be disciples of Christ by bringing people back to the Church.
Discipleship is the core emphasis of this federation.
One of the highlights for the event was the participation of the United Church Minister in the welcome and opening ceremonies and they were the first ceremonies of such that he has participated in and he described them as ‘amazing.’
He encouraged Dorcas’ members to make disciples for Christ.
President of the Dorcas Federation, Julies Poa thanked all Dorcas members in attendance.
She also thanked Ms Liligeto for her attendance as the guest speaker.
This federation will conclude this Saturday.
