Malwatte Chapter Chief Prelate Most Ven. Thibbotuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Thera stated that the people elected the current Government with great expectations and everyone should dedicate themselves to fulfilling those public aspirations.
He emphasised that all other issues arise from the foundation of economic problems and that everyone should work together to seek solutions to the prevailing economic crisis. These views were expressed when the Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Minister Prof.Hiniduma Sunil Senevi and Deputy Minister Gamagedara Dissanayake visited the Malwatte Maha Viharaya yesterday (22) to receive blessings from the Chief Prelate.
After visiting the Sri Dalada Maligawa and paying homage, the ministers arrived at the Malwatte Maha Viharaya to meet and receive blessings from the Chief Prelate.
During this meeting, Minister Sunil Senevi stated that, in addition to the economic crisis, the country has faced significant cultural degradation recently. He added that the intense focus on the economic crisis has caused many other issues to remain unnoticed and overshadowed.
The minister further stated that the current government shoulders an immense responsibility, noting that the Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Ministry is one of the country’s most significant and impactful ministries, with far-reaching influence on people’s lives.
Following the meeting with the Chief Prelate, the ministers also met the Deputy Chief Prelate of the Malwatte Chapter, Most Ven.Dimbulkumbure Wimaladhamma Thera and received his blessings.
The Deputy Chief Prelate during his address, stressed the importance of paying special attention to understanding what should and should not be done when various groups provide suggestions. He advised that all actions should be carefully thought through.
He further referred to a recent statement made by the President in front of all ministers, urging them not to exceed their authority. Expressing his confidence, Deputy Chief Prelate stated that he believes everyone will act in a way that meets the public’s expectations.
