I read with interest your article “First National Export Strategy Presented” (10 December 2025). While I commend the efforts of the Ministry and UNCTAD, I do express concern about the pattern this represents.
Vanuatu has been the subject of at least 25 major diagnostic studies examining agricultural exports and trade barriers since 2007. Collectively, these programs and technical assistance initiatives have cost donors and the government over USD $200 million. Yet our merchandise exports in 2022 ($61 million) were essentially the same as in 2011 ($63 million).
