President Mnangagwa has warned Zanu PF members against abusing their positions within the party, urging leaders to lead by example and uphold the revolutionary values upon which the party was founded.
In his address at the Zanu PF National Consultative Assembly (NCA) in Harare today, President Mnangagwa reminded the gathering that leadership in the party is a position of responsibility, not privilege.
“As party members, especially those holding senior positions, we must never abuse the trust given to us,” he said.
“We are here to serve the people, not to enrich ourselves or advance personal agendas.
“Let us always remember that we are custodians of a legacy left to us by our founding fathers.”
President Mnangagwa said the NCA, comprising experienced cadres including former ministers and liberation war stalwarts, is expected to guide and correct the party’s direction where necessary, adding that their wisdom must help maintain ideological clarity and organisational integrity.
“Our movement must benefit from the vast experience we share,” he said.
“The National Consultative Assembly must continue playing its important role in guiding the party and ensuring we stay true to our revolutionary path.”
President Mnangagwa also praised the Zanu PF-led Government’s developmental projects, including road rehabilitation projects, agricultural transformation and infrastructure development.
He reiterated the need to safeguard these programmes from corruption and poor leadership.
“We must not allow any form of misuse or mismanagement of party programmes and resources,” said President Mnangagwa.
“Accountability must start from the top. Our people deserve honesty and results.”
Touching on the legacy of the late Vice President and National Hero, Dr Joshua Nkomo, President Mnangagwa called for peace, unity and social cohesion to remain central to the party’s mission.
He also warned against complacency amid economic progress, reminding members that political vigilance and moral uprightness are essential in defending the gains of independence and development.
