Seithati Motšoeneng THE Lesotho Tourism Development Corporation (LTDC) has announced the first cohort of Rebontše Lesotho content creators, with one winner selected from each of the country’s 10 districts. The corporation has also confirmed that the initiative will become an annual programme till 2029, as part of efforts to strengthen Lesotho’s digital tourism marketing and empower young Basotho to tell the country’s story. The selected creators emerged from district-level shortlists, with Mafeteng’s top three comprising Lemohang Qahana, Seipati Mohomotsi and Thabo Masiu, with Masiu emerging as the winner. In Berea, Reitumetse Mahlaba, Pule Letele and Kobefo Mahleke made the top three, with Mahlaba taking the top spot. The Anambra State Police Command has raided some criminal hideouts across the state, recovering several sophisticated arms and ammunition and arresting some suspects, including a 65-year-old secessionist member and six other suspects. The command’s spokesman, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a statement on Friday, said the clearance operation was carried out by the operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit on Thursday in line with the directives of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu. Ikenga explained that the joint security team, acting on credible information, raided identified black spots and criminal hideouts in Ekwulobia, Aguata Local Government Area and Umudioka, Dinukofia LGA of the state. The Ebola epidemic in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo has now spread to a sixth province in the country. Concerns are growing that the life-threatening infectious disease could reach the capital, Kinshasa, which is home to 19 million people. Facilities for isolating patients are ready for the event that a public health alert should hit the capital, says Jean-Jacques Muyembe, Director General of the National Institute for Biomedical Research (INRB). “If there is a suspected case, the epidemiological services and the INRB laboratory are ready to quickly identify and confirm cases,” he told DW. “The Ministry of Health has set up the Cinquantenaire Hospital so that it can admit and fully isolate patients if necessary.
