The Mo Ibrahim Foundation has highlighted the importance of enhancing mobility and connectivity across Africa to accelerate continental integration and swiftly implement the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The foundation also called for strategies to facilitate regular migration within the continent. This is highlighted in a report titled ‘Africa on the Move: Boosting mobility and connectivity’ published by the Foundation. The launch coincided with the opening of the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya last week. This report provides a comprehensive overview of current challenges such as the ‘soft’ mobility of persons, goods and services and the ‘hard’ physical connectivity infrastructure within a continent. It also highlights the important commitments already taken at an African level, though not all fully implemented, to address these challenges. The report points to the full implementation of the AfCFTA as a solution to boost intra-continental trade to 53% from around 18% of Africa’s...

Weala, Margibi County, May 20, 2026 — The top U.S. diplomat in Liberia has praised Jeety Rubber and its subsidiary, Salala Rubber Corporation, as models of private investment and community development in Weala, Margibi County. During a visit to the companies’ operations on Tuesday, May 19, U.S. Charge d’Affaires Joseph Zadrozny described their achievements as a powerful example of how investment, community partnership, and ambition can transform lives and strengthen Liberia’s economy. “It takes not just an investor, not just his workers, but the whole community working together,” he said. “Being able to come out and see it work allows me to go back and talk about what’s really happening in Liberia.” Mr. Zadrozny expressed his hope that American investors, especially Liberian American investors from the diaspora, will be encouraged to invest in Liberia, citing Jeety Rubber’s success as a compelling case. He emphasized that the level of progress he...

Kelly Mokoti’s Movement is Changing Women’s Lives Before she became a voice for women’s empowerment, Ramotswa-born Kelly Mokoti was fully immersed in her roles as wife and mother. The candid content creator – also a Certified Havillah Trainer, beautician and business coach – once lived vicariously through her husband and children, quietly giving up her independence, her finances, and, slowly, her sense of self. Not surprisingly, though, it was a pattern shaped by her upbringing. She watched her mother depend entirely on her father, and she desired the same kind of marriage. “My dad was a provider, so my mother never lacked anything; she was spoilt. I grew up wanting the same: a man like my father, loving and wholly devoted to family. And I got it. I met my husband at 19, and by 23, we were married and starting a family. I thought it was the perfect life!”...
