Nairobi — Hundreds of Burundian nationals living in Kenya have turned to the Burundian Embassy and cyber cafés in Nairobi to process documentation amid growing uncertainty following President William Ruto’s remarks on foreign traders operating in the country. Long queues were reported at the Burundian Embassy along Dennis Pritt Road on Monday, with nationals seeking documentation as the government steps up scrutiny of foreigners working and conducting business in Kenya. The embassy has also begun issuing emergency travel documents to Burundian nationals who are unable to use their passports, according to earlier reports. …as High Court clears police to raid Rios Africa over alleged ‘fake’ Mazenod Printing Works books  Moorosi Tsiane  THE High Court has authorised the Lesotho Mounted Police Service (LMPS) to search a Maseru bookshop and seize evidence in a copyright dispute involving the alleged unauthorised reproduction and sale of Roman Catholic Church books published by Mazenod Printing Works.  Justice Moroke Mokhesi granted the search and seizure order in the Commercial Division of the High Court on Thursday.  The order was obtained ex parte (without knowledge of respondent) after Mazenod Printing Works (Pty) Ltd and the Oblates of Mary Immaculate persuaded the court that there were reasonable grounds to fear that evidence relating to the alleged copyright infringement could be concealed, destroyed or removed.  The applicants want the police to search Lifestyle Books, a bookshop owned by Rios Africa proprietor Jared Kebaso Ongeri, and hand over any material seized during the operation for use in their case.  Mazenod Printing Works manager, Father Lekhooa Phillip Lekhooa, also asked the court to facilitate access to evidence already seized by the police under case...

…as DPP withdraws murder charges Mohloai Mpesi FOUNDER and chairperson of Naledi Funeral Planners (Pty) Ltd, Thabiso Madiba, is set to be a free man from Monday after the prosecution resolved to withdraw murder charges against him. The Lesotho Times has established that Acting Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Advocate Lehlanako Mofilikoane, has resolved to withdraw the charges against Mr Madiba, although the reasons for the decision were not stated. Mr Madiba was accused of the double murder of fellow Naledi shareholder, Ikhetheleng Matabane, and the company’s finance manager, ‘Maserema ‘Makong. Mr Matabane was also Naledi’s chief financial officer. The two were gunned down on 10 February 2023 while at the Deck restaurant in Maseru by assailants suspected of having been hired by Mr Madiba.
