OPINION | Abdulla Shahid resigned as MDP president in August to seek the party’s presidential nomination. Writing for the Maldives Independent, he argues that the Maldives is generating wealth without delivering security: resorts are full and the economy is growing, but families are struggling with the cost of living, dollars are hard to come by and housing is out of reach.
