Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu has moved to kill fresh social media reports claiming that Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma is critically ill, insisting the monarch is stable and only in Turkey for a routine medical review. Sierra Leone Telegraph: 7 September 2026: A report coming out of the University of Lagos has examined the environmental effects of British colonial rule in Africa and has asked that this value be included in all reparations conversation. The report, titled CO2lonianism, Ecocide, Reparations, argues that the long-lasting ecological harm caused by British colonial rule on its former African colonies constitutes a separate and vast category of damage, distinct from the humanitarian harm of the slave trade, with a valuation that could exceed hundreds of trillions of dollars. The Ministry of Justice and Labour Relations has officially announced updated minimum wage rates and revised conditions of employment for workers in the construction industry. According to the Ministry, the newly implemented wage structure will remain in effect for two years. Under the updated framework, the minimum wage for general workers and entry-level laborers has been set at N$20.43 per hour during the first year of implementation. “Different rates apply according to occupation and skill level, including semi-skilled and artisan trades, construction drivers, plant operators, mechanics, storekeepers, timekeepers and clerks.” The ministry added that the second set of minimum wage rates will apply one year after promulgation, from 1 September 2027; the minimum wage for a labourer or general worker will increase to N$21.45 per hour, with corresponding increases across the other occupational categories covered by the agreement. “The agreement also establishes a requirement for protective clothing and safety equipment,...

Mohloai Mpesi  SUSPENDED Lesotho Electricity Company (LEC) Managing Director (MD), Mohlomi Seitlheko, says the prolonged suspension of the utility’s executive managers has become a political game, with only him having been summoned for a disciplinary hearing.  The LEC executive management team has been on suspension since March last year, following investigations into alleged financial irregularities at the power utility.  This after the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Energy and Mining, Tankiso Phapano, to LEC Board Chairperson, Thabo Khasipe, directing the Board to institute disciplinary proceedings against the suspended executives.  In the letter, dated 15 May 2026 and seen by this publication, Mr Phapano said LEC lost close to M1 billion under the suspended executives due to outdated policies, weak internal controls and widespread governance failures.  However, 18 months later, only Mr Seitlheko has been subjected to a disciplinary hearing, while the other suspended executives are yet to be called to account.  Mr Seitlheko was summoned before a disciplinary committee about two to three months ago to respond to allegations levelled against...
