Proqual Diagnostic Imaging has joined forces with the Cancer Association of Namibia (CAN) to sponsor N$50,000 worth of mammogram scans, expanding access to life-saving breast cancer screenings for local women.
The collaboration focuses on providing diagnostic imaging to women who face financial barriers, ensuring critical early detection services reach those most in need.
By subsidizing these essential screenings, the joint initiative aims to lower diagnostic costs, promote early intervention, and strengthen national efforts against breast cancer across Namibia.
In a statement, CAN said the mammograms will be allocated at the discretion of their clinical team to vulnerable women in need.
“In addition, Proqual Diagnostic Imaging will host two free breast cancer screening events on 21 and 28 October at their facility at Heritage Square, Robert Mugabe Avenue in Windhoek’s CBD.”
They added that the partnership will also see 50% discounted mammogram rates to CAN to be used in support of state patients for the next six months.
“This will help make specialised breast imaging more accessible to patients who may otherwise struggle to afford private diagnostic services.”
General Manager of Proqual Diagnostic Imaging, Diaan Descande, said they believe that access to quality healthcare should not be limited by financial circumstances.
“Through this initiative, we hope to make breast cancer screening more accessible to women in need who may struggle to afford the service. This initiative reflects our support in a practical and meaningful way to CAN’s continued efforts to promote breast cancer awareness and improve access to screening across the country.”
Chief Executive of CAN, Rolf Hansen, said this is a wonderful example of what becomes possible when organisations combine their strengths around a shared purpose.
“Breast cancer awareness must ultimately translate into access. Then access empowers screening, early detection, diagnosis, and appropriate care. We are grateful to Proqual Diagnostic Imaging for turning their commitment into practical support for women who need it most.”
The Association said the collaboration brings together their experience in cancer awareness, community engagement and screening with Proqual Diagnostic Imaging’s specialised breast imaging capabilities, creating a practical partnership that will make a meaningful difference this Pink October and beyond.
