The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security this week issued a notice to caution travellers against using private e-Visa application platforms hosted by individuals, agents or intermediaries. The ministry said it has received complaints from international travellers and visa applicants who intended to apply for visas through the its online visa platform but were lured into or mistakenly logged onto private e-Visa application platforms. This resulted in travellers making payments for visas, which they ended up not receiving, as the agents failed to deliver on their promises. The ministry noted that the official online platform established for e-Visa applications is https://eservices.mhaiss.gov.na/ and not https://namibia-evisa.com, as cited by travellers. Cricket Namibia will host a T20 International (T20I) tri-series later this month, bringing top-tier international cricket back to the capital. The tournament, which features the national teams of Nigeria and Hong Kong alongside the hosts, is scheduled to run from 18 to 23 June in Windhoek. This series marks the highly anticipated return ofthe national T20 squad, popularly known as the ‘FNB Eagles’. The home side has been out of action since April, when they last took to the pitch in a competitive three-match T20I bilateral series against Scotland. Natalia Nauyoma, Cricket Namibia’s marketing manager said these international games will count toward T20I rankings. The National Arts Council of Namibia (NACN) has announced a total funding disbursement of N$132,066 to three successful applicants during its first 2026 grant disbursement cycle. The applicants were awarded across the individual, group and organisation support categories. The applicants comprise Dina Hiakaere from the Omaheke region, who received a grant in the craft discipline; Manda Gabriel and Friends in Concert from the Khomas region, who received a grant in the music discipline; and Oshana’s Ongoma Music Awards who received a grant in multi-disciplinary arts. The council emphasised that all applications underwent a rigorous and competitive evaluation process. Applicants were required to demonstrate how their proposed initiatives align with the council’s strategic priorities and broader national development objectives for the creative economy.
