The Development Bank of Namibia (DBN) has concluded a four-day regional outreach initiative across the Omaheke, Kavango East, and Kavango West regions as part of an effort to expand access to financial solutions and foster local economic development.
The national outreach campaign was designed to enhance stakeholder engagement, increase awareness of available funding solutions, gather insights on regional development needs, and streamline access to development finance nationwide.
DBN stated that the programme attracted a significant turnout across all three regions, reflecting growing interest in the Bank’s recently introduced financing solutions. “The strong response is largely attributed to the introduction of DBN for Her, launched earlier this year to improve access to finance for women entrepreneurs, and the facilitation of the Ministry of Fiance’s National Youth Development Fund, which provides targeted financing support to youth-owned enterprises.”
Chief Executive at DBN, Titus Ndove said the level of participation witnessed throughout the outreach demonstrates a growing demand for accessible and relevant development finance. “Through initiatives such as DBN for Her and the National Youth Development Fund, we are broadening access to finance for women and young entrepreneurs, empowering them to establish and grow sustainable businesses that contribute meaningfully to Namibia’s economic development.”
DBN added they have continued to invest in various productive sectors across Namibia to stimulate economic growth and create employment opportunities. “To date, we have invested more than N$23 billion in Namibian businesses, with financing approvals amounting to N$356.19 million in the Omaheke Region, N$331.92 million in the Kavango East Region and N$131.34 million in the Kavango West Region, supporting projects across a diverse range of economic sectors.”
The Bank encouraged entrepreneurs, particularly women and young people, to take advantage of these financing opportunities to start, expand and strengthen their businesses, contributing to Namibia’s socio-economic transformation. “We remain committed to expanding access to development finance through continued nationwide outreach initiatives, ensuring that entrepreneurs, businesses and communities across all regions have the opportunity to engage directly with us, understand our products and access financial solutions that support sustainable economic growth and shared prosperity.”
