The government has officially terminated its Remote Sensing Agricultural Services Agreement with US-based tech firm 6th Grain Corporation, following a review that revealed the deal failed to meet mandatory legal and procedural requirements.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Land Reform Deputy Director, Romeo Muyunda, the contract had been established to implement an artificial intelligence (AI) and satellite imagery-driven system to monitor national crop production.
“Consequently, Government has invoked the applicable termination provisions of the agreement and has issued a formal written notice of termination to 6th Grain Corporation.”
Muyunda confirmed that the matter was handled at the highest levels of government to safeguard public interests and enforce strict compliance with national laws, policies, and procurement standards.
The cancellation underscores an ongoing push to reinforce transparency, accountability, and proper governance in the management of public resources and state contracts.
