Two Christ Church men who admitted stealing a motor car almost eight years ago have been ordered by the High Court to pay both compensation and fines.
Julius Stewart of Charnocks and Sean Matthias of Silver Hill admitted in the No. 3A Supreme Court to stealing a $30 000 car belonging to Neville Nurse between November 21 and 22, 2018.
Judge Anthony Blackman ordered Stewart to pay $8 000 in two weeks, failing which he will spend 1 051 days in prison. He was also fined $5 000 to be paid within three months, or face the same 1 051 days in prison.
Matthias was ordered to pay $5 000 in compensation within four weeks and a $6 000 fine within four months. Failure to pay either will result in 812 days at Dodds Prison.
The sentences are to run concurrently if the monies are not paid.
The case was prosecuted by Principal State Counsel Rudolph Burnett, while Stewart was represented by Senior Counsel Angella Mitchell-Gittens, and Matthias’ attorney was Rasheed Belgrave.
