Suspected new FMD cases threaten deeper strain for cattle farmers
Botswana’s livestock sector is facing renewed pressure after suspected new Foot and Mouth Disease cases emerged near the South African border, threatening to prolong movement restrictions and intensify financial strain on cattle farmers.
The Ministry of Lands and Agriculture says suspected infections have been identified at Steelbase Farm and Mpusang Farm in the Banyana farming area, dimming hopes that restrictions in Zone 11 could soon be lifted.
