The renovation of the Rabat Health Centre has been inaugurated by Health Minister Jo Etienne Abela, with an expenditure of €750,000, a government statement said.
The Rabat Health Centre underwent extensive refurbishment and modernisation of its infrastructure, which will help improve patient flow and increase overall comfort for both patients and health professionals, it said.
Minister Abela said that the project focused on creating a more welcoming and efficient environment, with updated clinical areas, improved accessibility, and the integration of modern equipment to enhance the level of care.
“This renovation aligns with government’s strategy to anchor health services within Primary Care, where we invest in services that people rely on at the heart of the community. Through this investment, the Centre is now equipped to offer a wider range of services and better meet the needs of the community,” Abela said.
Abela explained that apart from the refurbishment of the building, the services offered from this location were strengthened and expanded to 14 services.
New services introduced include ophthalmology, the well-baby clinic, physiotherapy, and screening.
Abela said that around 50,000 people will benefit from this investment, as the Rabat Health Centre’s service area covers Rabat, Dingli, Attard, Baħrija, Mtahleb, Mdina and Mtarfa.
“This improvement ensures that residents of Rabat and the surrounding areas benefit from more comprehensive, timely care that places the patient at the centre, in a modern and fully updated facility,” Abela said.
