With the Hungarian new car market expected to remain stagnant, Mercedes-Benz Hungária Kft., the local importer, forecasts continued growth in 2025.
The GLC emerged as the brand’s most popular model, while the electric G-Class had a record-breaking debut. The company also saw significant growth in its light commercial vehicle segment.
Premium Passenger Cars See Significant Growth
Mercedes-Benz outpaced Hungary’s overall market growth, which expanded by 12.8% year-over-year. While the premium segment grew by 4.5%, Mercedes-Benz reported a 13.6% increase in passenger car sales, outperforming its competitors.
The GLC topped sales charts with 1,014 registrations, including 392 Coupé and 622 SUV models, securing its position as the leader in its category.
Electric Models Shine in Debuts and Sales
The electric G-Class had a strong debut, with its 2024 allocation selling out in record time. Both the EQA and EQE electric models ranked first in their respective premium categories, while the flagship S-Class remained Hungary’s top-selling luxury sedan with 183 units sold.
Light Commercial Vehicles Drive Growth
The light commercial vehicle segment also performed exceptionally well, with registrations increasing by 19.1% year-over-year. Key contributors included the Citan, up 52%, and the Vito, which grew by 42%. The eSprinter 2.0 electric van, launched in January 2024, added to the brand’s momentum. Mercedes-Benz opened its first Van Center in Hungary, showcasing its comprehensive portfolio of commercial vehicles and services.
Mercedes-Benz maintained its position as Hungary’s top brand for new electric light commercial vehicle registrations for the third consecutive year. The eCitan and eVito models saw demand quadruple compared to 2023.
The V-Class achieved its best sales year ever, with 479 registrations. The redesigned luxury minivan, featuring advanced driver assistance systems, has become a customer favorite since its launch in January 2024.
Mercedes-Benz anticipates robust growth in 2025, driven by its refreshed product portfolio and the launch of the new CLA model.
