ADPD – The Green Party has expressed strong opposition to recent planning decisions and electoral promises, characterizing them as driven by greed and short-term political gain rather than the national interest.
Party officials highlighted the approval of construction projects at Forti Chambray and near the Ġgantija UNESCO World Heritage site as “sacrilegious” acts of speculation that dismantle the very cultural identity that attracts visitors to the islands.
They argue that the priority has shifted toward private profit and unnecessary hotel expansion at the expense of historical preservation and future generations.
Furthermore, the party cautioned the public against ambitious electoral promises regarding new hospitals.
Chairperson Sandra Gauci emphasized that without a long-term plan for human resources and staffing, new facilities risk increasing inefficiency and costs. ADPD suggests that instead of building new hospitals, the government should focus on strengthening community clinics, preventive care, and family doctor integration.
Regarding elderly care, the party criticized the trend of large, institutionalized private homes, advocating instead for modern European models of shared and supported living within the community.
