Nine years ago today, Maldivian blogger and human rights activist Yameen Rasheed was killed in Malé. His family is still waiting for the government to publish the findings of the presidential inquiry into his murder — findings they say were promised over two years ago.
With the High Court ordering a retrial after overturning the original convictions, and ongoing concerns about the transparency of the investigation, the Association for Democracy in the Maldives is renewing its call for full public disclosure.
Yameen’s sister Aisha put it simply: “I want to believe that they will do the right thing.”
