Rocky’s Diamond Gallery, George Town (CNS): Three men have been arrested in connection with an armed robbery at Rocky’s Diamond Gallery on Seafarers Way, George Town, on Monday. The stick-up happened shortly before noon, just across the street from the harbour, where one cruise ship was in port. Two masked men entered the store, brandishing a baseball bat and what appeared to be a gun. They smashed several display cases and removed jewellery. They then ran outside and got into a getaway vehicle. No shots were fired, and no one was injured during the incident. The RCIPS said that officers quickly identified a vehicle matching the description of the one used by the robbers and began to follow it. One man fled the vehicle in the vicinity of Shedden Road and North Sound Road. The vehicle then travelled towards West Bay and was stopped by the police on Willie Farrington...

A House ethics panel found she committed 25 violations tied to campaign finance and reporting. She also faces separate federal criminal charges related to alleged misuse of COVID-19 relief funds, which she denies. WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic Rep. The congresswoman was facing the possible threat of expulsion, something that has only occurred six times in the history of the House. Support from her own party was increasingly in doubt. It’s the third resignation in a little more than a week from a House lawmaker....

Pavilion at Warner Park before development – Advertisement – Today marks 100 years since the foundation stone of Warner Park was laid, a moment that signalled the birth of what would become the Federation’s most important sporting and cultural space. On April 21, 1926, the ceremonial stone was laid by Sir Eustace Fiennes, then Governor of the Leeward Islands. Just two years later, the park officially opened in 1928, having been established as a public recreation ground in the heart of Basseterre. Named after Cricket at Warner Park in the 1970s Sir Thomas Warner, it was designed not as a stadium, but as a space for community gathering and leisure. Over the decades, Warner Park evolved alongside the nation—hosting early cricket and football in the 1930s, Carnival celebrations in the 1950s, political rallies in the 1960s, and Independence-era events in the 1980s. By the 2000s, a major redevelopment transformed it...

Overview: House Ethics Committee reviews 25 violations as expulsion calls grow against Haitian-American congresswoman WASHINGTON (AP) — Democratic Rep. Sheila Cherfilus-McCormick of Florida is facing a critical moment in her political career Tuesday as members of the House Ethics Committee weigh what punishment to recommend after they found she committed 25 violations of House rules and ethical standards, including breaking campaign finance laws. Republicans are already calling for the expulsion of Cherfilus-McCormick, who is in her third term and is running for reelection in a southeastern Florida district. She is also facing federal criminal charges accusing her of stealing $5 million in coronavirus disaster relief funds and using the money to buy items such as a 3-carat yellow diamond ring. Cherfilus-McCormick has pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges and says she is not guilty of ethics violations, either. The allegations against the congresswoman center on how she received millions...
