ZACHARY Wang, co-founder and chief executive of e-scooter sharing startup Neuron Mobility, has been named the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year (EOY) 2024 Singapore. Wang, who was the winner in the mobility category, beat three other EOY category winners to clinch the top honour. As Singapore’s representative at the EY World Entrepreneur Of The Year awards in Monte Carlo in June 2025, he will go up against 50 other country winners for the world title at the global competition. Founded in 2016, Neuron Mobility designs and manufactures its own e-scooters and the technology that runs them. SINGAPORE’S key exports fell by 4.6 per cent year on year in October, coming in worse than what the authorities were expecting, as non-electronic shipments decreased sharply, data from Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) showed on Monday (Nov 18). September’s non-oil domestic exports (NODX) has also been revised by a fairly large extent to just 0.9 per cent year-on-year growth. EnterpriseSG noted that it was expecting NODX to come in below the “4 to 5 per cent forecast range” for the year owing to a weaker-than-expected recovery in the second half of 2024. NODX performance was in negative territory for a large part of H1, and returned to positive growth in July. It then declined for the next three months. MORE businesses ran up higher sales in their overseas markets in 2024, with nearly a third (32 per cent) of them reporting growth, up from 22 per cent in 2023. The report of a survey by the Singapore Business Federation (SBF), released on Thursday (Nov 14), said this contributed to a rise in the proportion of businesses with at least two-fifths of sales from overseas sources – 56 per cent in 2024, from 54 per cent in 2023. There was also a slight rise in the number of businesses planning future overseas expansion, 59 per cent, up from 57 per cent in the year before.
