Sagicor Sigma Run 2025 has welcomed Food For The Poor as a partner to help rake in United States (US) and Canadian donations for this year’s run.
This is just one of the multiple channels the Sagicor Foundation is using to reach its ambitious target of J$115 million.
The global charitable organisation said it has created donations pages dedicated to the 27th staging of the run, and that donations made will be tax deductible in the respective regions.
The channels go hand in hand with a range of other fundraising initiatives being undertaken by the foundation.
Every Friday until February 14, the Sagicor team operates the Sigma Café, held at the R. Danny Williams Building, offering breakfast items for sale as a way for persons to support the cause. A ‘Balloon Pop’ initiative, which gives participants the chance to win prizes while donating, is also ongoing, while on January 24, the team executed its Market on Terrace, which successfully brought in funds for Sigma, and provided support for local farmers and small businesses.
“Our fundraising activities embody the spirit of the Sigma Run – uniting people to make a difference while having fun,” said Christopher Zacca, president & CEO of Sagicor Group Jamaica and chairman of the Sagicor Foundation. “We are thrilled by the public’s support as we work towards our $115-million goal to impact the lives of many Jamaicans who are served by this year’s beneficiaries: Kingston Public Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, Sir John Golding Rehabilitation Centre and Father Ho Lung and Friends Foundation’s Bethlehem Home.”
With registration for the run closing last Friday, the focus has shifted to encouraging donations and support for other events leading up to race day. Yesterday, Sagicor executed ‘Pilates and Brunch’, which offered a unique way to support the three Sigma causes.
Sigma Run has also partnered with 2025 patron Cedella Marley to pull off ‘A Stush Affair with Cedella Marley’. This is being done in partnership with renowned vegan experience ‘Stush in the Bush’ tomorrow at the Jamaica Food and Drink Kitchen in Barbican, St Andrew. The event will be a well-curated gastronomical affair. Part proceeds from both events will go directly to the Sagicor Sigma Run causes.
The Sagicor Sigma Corporate Run remains the Caribbean’s largest charity road race, bringing together thousands of participants each year to support health and education initiatives.
“Every dollar counts,” Zacca emphasised. “We encourage everyone to contribute in any way they can. The funds raised will benefit generations of Jamaicans.
