The Terrorism Investigation Division (TID) of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) informed Colombo Additional Magistrate Pasan Amarasena yesterday that information was revealed about several other suspects who may be involved in an alleged plan to attack Israeli nationals in the country.
The TID informed the Court that when the suspects arrested in connection with a possible terrorist attack in Arugam Bay were questioned, information about several other suspects related to this incident was revealed.
Accordingly, the TID filed a special motion and requested permission from the Magistrate to initiate further investigations related to these suspects.
The Magistrate ordered to carry out all investigations related to this incident and arrest the suspects immediately.
The officials stated that according to the information received, the investigation into the incident was started last September and three suspects have been arrested so far. They also requested permission to detain the suspects in the CID for further investigations.
The Additional Magistrate, who considered the facts presented by the CID and the special report, allowed the relevant requests and recorded the facts presented orally in the investigation file.
Accordingly, after considering the facts presented, the Court also ordered to conduct a lengthy investigation on these suspects.
