Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit is investigating after an Ottawa Police Service officer shot and seriously wounded a 33-year-old man who was alleged attacking people in Orléans late Friday.
The police watchdog said in a release that preliminary information indicates that the wounded man was assaulting people and damaging vehicles in the area of St. Joseph Boulevard and Place d’Orléans Drive.

Upon arrival, police confronted the man. An officer then shot the suspect several times.
Two conducted energy weapons were also deployed.
The man was arrested and taken to hospital where he remains in critical-stable condition.
Four civilians were injured and taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The SIU notice did not specify what weapons may have been used by the suspect.
Five investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case.
