Πραγματοποιήθηκε με επιτυχία η άσκηση αντιμετώπισης των συνεπειών πλημμυρών «ΠΟΣΕΙΔΩΝ 2024», την οποία διοργάνωσε το Σώμα Εθελοντών του SupportCY της Τράπεζας Κύπρου, με στόχο την ενίσχυση της συνεργασίας και της ετοιμότητας των εθελοντών για υποστήριξη των αρμοδίων κρατικών υπηρεσιών σε περιπτώσεις πλημμυρών. Η Άσκηση πραγματοποιήθηκε στην ευρύτερη περιοχή της κοινότητας Περιστερώνας και υποστηρίχθηκε από την Πυροσβεστική Υπηρεσία Κύπρου, την Αστυνομία Κύπρου, την Αρχή Ηλεκτρισμού Κύπρου και την Υπηρεσία Ασθενοφόρων, ενώ σε αυτή συμμετείχαν οι πιστοποιημένες εθελοντικές ομάδες ETEA, SOS και Κυπριακή Ομάδα Διάσωσης. Κατά τη διάρκεια της Άσκησης, οι συμμετέχοντες συνεργάστηκαν για την προσομοίωση και αντιμετώπιση καταστάσεων που προκύπτουν κατά τη διάρκεια πλημμυρών, όπως η άντληση υδάτων από πλημμυρισμένα υποστατικά, υποστήριξη ευάλωτων ομάδων, καθώς και η ανταπόκριση σε σοβαρό συμβάντος με τραυματίες. Επιπρόσθετα, πραγματοποιήθηκε και πρακτική εκπαίδευση στις διαδικασίες συντονισμού και ανταπόκρισης, έτσι ώστε να διασφαλιστεί η άμεση και αποτελεσματική αντίδραση σε περίπτωση φυσικής καταστροφής.
