MultiChoice Namibia (MCN) has announced the premiere of the Namibian-produced film “Die Rooftog” on KykNET and Kie. The film is now available to watch on DStv CatchUp.
Producer of the film Hildegard Titus said the film is inspired by true stories.
“There have been many stories about salons getting robbed and wigs getting snatched off heads, and I thought it would be interesting to tell a comedic point of view of what forces people to do such dodgy and not-so-fun crimes,” she added.
MCN said DiRooftopog follows the tale of Ernest(Roger Rafael), a young hustler who tries his best to make ends meet by selling wors, lollipops,s and DVDs for a living. “Rent is due, Ernest’s mother is sick while requiring a large amount of money for hospital bills, and he longs to support his girlfriend Innocentia (Tjiurimo Kandjii), a talented hairdresser who dreams of opening her hair salon one day,” they explained.
They said but when Earnest’s cousin Sly (Edo Dice Lutete) comes around, things somehow take a turn for the worst. “Bringing a charming personality and an attitude of a boss to the table, you can not help but admire this smooth criminal, who although has good intentions plots and plans to rob posh hair salons across Windhoek,” they added.
MCN stated that the flick is a whirlwind tale of comedy, romance, drama, and all-round entertainment. “Offering a dash of drama through its characters, Amy-Leigh Hammond, Mark Kariahuua, Oscar Shilongo, Abigail Goliath, Joyce Tjizu, Logino Goraseb, Selena Coetzee and special guest star Lize Ehlers bring Dir Rooftog to life in this family-friendly film,” they said.
If you missed the première, catch Die Rooftog now only on DStv’s CatchUp service, including other films from the MCN Ombura project such as Lubinda, and the exclusive lifestyle series Op Pad Met My Potjie.
