Tshekedi Khama: The Misunderstood Regent (Part 6)
The South Africans were so serious about getting Bechuanaland into being one of its provinces to a point where they offered cash as an incentive to the colony. The money would be used in the development of road and water infrastructure. This was a clear sign that the Boers were coming to farm here and tap on a huge free labour force in the country. They were not interested in the areas of health and education but Tshekedi discovered them for what they were. Certainly Tshekedi has had a hand in the fashioning of the current political order and the economy of present day Botswana.
