The National Association of Marylanders in the Americas (NAMCAL) has donated over 400 beg of rice to Maryland County’s volunteer and payroll teachers as a season gift.
Thursday, December 26, 2024/ The distribution of the rice begins on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, covering four districts, namely, Harper, Pleebo, karloken, and Barrrobo, respectively.
The 400 bags of 25kg rice were distributed to teachers in public schools across the county, bringing much-needed relief and joy to educators and their families.
The initiative was championed by NAMCAL’s President Beatrice Nyemady Dweh-Rue, alongside Rev. Ed Cooper and Mr. Christopher Wreh.
In District One, Harper City, the association identified all of the volunteer teachers in the various schools in the district, with similar distribution done throughout the other three districts within the county.
Presenting the food rations to volunteer teachers on behalf of NAMCAL, Tubman University Communication director Solo Otto Gaye said the gesture is the association’s way of identifying with those volunteer teachers across the county during the festival season.
He maintains that the effort aims to recognize and reward the tireless contributions of teachers, both volunteer and payroll, who continue to shape Maryland County’s future despite numerous challenges.
Reflecting on the initiative, Solo Otto Gaye remarked, “This project highlights NAMCAL’s dedication to supporting education and the people who make it possible. These teachers are the backbone of our schools, and this small gesture is NAMCAL’s way of saying thank you for their service.”
Mr. Gaye: “this donation is more symbolic, even if we have brought over three thousand begs of rice it will not still covered all of our hardworking teachers across the county; but just to show to our people’s that we are with them this festival season we have brought this” he quote.
He expressed joy that volunteer teachers are getting something at a time, and the beneficiaries should appreciate the National Association of Marylanders in the Americas (NAMCAL) for the effort.
Receiving the rations, several beneficiaries across the county have expressed heartfelt gratitude for the donation, with many noting that the rice would ease their burdens and allow them to celebrate the festival season with their families.
This initiative is part of NAMCAL’s ongoing commitment to Maryland County. Last Christmas, the organization donated rice to nurses and midwives at JJ Dossen Hospital and Pleebo Health Center, recognizing their critical role in delivering healthcare services to the community.
