
CHEATS face prosecution for swapping pricey eggs into boxes of cheaper ones at Sainsbury’s.
Sainsbury’s has placed signs in stores telling customers that egg-swapping is “regarded as theft” – threatening that any footage of the egg thievery will be given to police.

Shoppers do it to sneak out the expensive ones.
The supermarket chain has put warning signs under Burford Brown eggs – which are 75p more expensive than the home brand Sainsbury’s eggs.
A six-pack of Burford Browns eggs sells for £3.20 at Sainsbury’s, compared with £1.80 for its standard own-brand eggs.
Sainsbury’s told customers: “Footage of shoplifting will be passed to the police.

“We prosecute all shoplifters.”
The warning comes after shoppers complained they were returning home from supermarkets to find their expensive boxes of eggs had been filled with cheaper alternatives.
It comes as supermarkets and smaller retailers are hit with an increase in shoplifting across the country.
