Staff of Tigers Restaurant in Lautoka have been assured they would be paid what they are owed.
After a standoff with management over the non payment of wages earlier today, the staff were told by the Ministry of Employment that their money would be issued this afternoon.
“The Ministry of Employment, Productivity and Workplace Relations became aware of a non-payment of wages to the workers of Tigers Restaurant in Lautoka through a viral social media post,” a statement from the Ministry said.
“Employment Minister, Honourable Agni Deo Singh, confirmed that a team visited the restaurant today to look into the matter.
“The owners have assured the Ministry that the workers will receive their wages by 4pm today (23/12/2024) and that the delay stemmed from a dispute within the family business,” said Mr Singh
“Our Compliance team will return to the restaurant at 4pm to verify that the wage payments are made to the affected employees.”
