The SMART Zambia Institute (SZI) , through its Luapula Unit, has conducted an interactive ICT training session for Heads of Government Departments at the Provincial Administration in Mansa. The session, held on September 11, 2025, forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen digital capacity within the public sector.
The training covered key areas such as cybersecurity awareness, e-government services, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in daily operations. Principal ICT Officer Samuel Banda emphasized that the initiative seeks to equip government officials with essential digital skills to enhance service delivery, promote innovation, and improve governance.
Banda explained that by empowering government officials with digital skills, the SMART Zambia Institute aimed to foster efficiency, strengthen citizen engagement, and align government operations with the national Digital Government Transformation Agenda.
Particular emphasis was placed on cybersecurity awareness, given the rising frequency of digital threats. By improving officials’ knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, the program aims to safeguard critical government systems and data. Additionally, the introduction of AI tools provided participants with insights into how emerging technologies can support better decision-making and operational efficiency.
