ALL medical services at the National Referral Hospital (NRH) in Honiara remains open throughout the Christmas and New Year holidays.
That’s according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health and Medical Services on Wednesday.
The statement was issued following notice being circulated via the social media that some of its services at NRH have been scaled down during the festive.
“As an essential service, health and medical services at the hospital will operate as normal and available for the public seeking medical attention during the festive season,” the statement responded.
It added, nurses and medical doctors are being rostered and will ensure all clinics and Departments are manned and offering services as normal.
The NRH Management Team confirms that Clinical Departments such as the Emergency Department, Orthopaedic, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Obstetrics and Gyanaecology, Psychiatry and the Operating Theatre will be open and operating as normal.
Other specific clinics such as the Fracture Clinic, High Risk Clinics for Antenatal mothers, Diabetic Foot Sepsis Management/NCD and booked clinical reviews also remain open.
Other clinical support services such as the Pharmacy, X-ray/CT scan, Medical Laboratory and Corporate Services (e.g. transport, kitchen, laundry) of the hospital are also currently rostered to ensure there is continuity of daily operations and support to clinical services over the holiday period.
The public is being urged to seek medical attention early at the nearest health facility for outpatient services.
However, the hospital emergency services remain open for patients needing medical attention.
“The NRH Management wishes you a joyful, peaceful and healthy celebration, and a very Merry Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
“God Bless” the statement said.
