The 2024 edition of the President’s Walk in aid of the Malta Community Chest Fund was held on Sunday with the participants, finishing in Valletta, being thanked and praised for their generosity by the President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono.
In a speech at the end of the walk, Spiteri Debono appealed to those present to maintain the unity they showed during the walk in their daily lives and praised them for their sense of altruism which distinguishes the Maltese people.
She went on to remind them that the walk is just one of a series of activities that happen throughout the year with the goal of helping the Malta Community Chest Fund give aid to all those who go for to it for help
Hundreds of people joined President of Malta Myriam Spiteri Debono, Prime Minister Robert Abela and leader of the Opposition Bernard Grech for this year’s edition of the President’s Walk with proceeds going towards the Malta Community Chest Fund.
All who attended wore shirts of this year’s edition and walked from San Anton Palace to Piazza San Gorg in a wave of solidarity and generosity for those in need.
Spiteri Debono said that the Malta Community Chest Fund doesn’t only help cancer patients but also a wide variety of social needs and for that reason, she appealed to the public to be generous, as it is every year, in this year’s edition of the Istrina.
The Malta Community Chest Fund also received a €20,000 donation, apart from the donations of the public, from the Fund for Just Causes presented by the Prime Minister.
This year’s edition of the President’s Walk was also made possible through SportMalta, Enemed, BOV, Eurosport Malta, Visit Malta, BNF Bank plc, MAPFRE, Maypole, Leapmotor Malta, KPMG, Powerade, The Point, Falcotrans Ltd, The Convenience Shop, Algida Malta, Paradise Bay Resort, the Local Councils’ Association, Magic Malta 91.7 and Ponder & Pitch. Additionally, the President’s Walk was actively supported by various other entities including the Police Corps, the Armed Forces of Malta, the Civil Protection Department, the Agency for Correctional Services, Transport Malta, LESA and volunteers from the Malta Red Cross who accompanied participants along the walk.
