Reports say the child and her mother were at their home in Balandra around 9.30 pm on Tuesday when the mother fed and burped the baby before placing her on the bed. A short while later she noticed the baby shaking, grimacing and screaming and thought the child was experiencing discomfort related to constipation. She picked up the child and saw blood and froth coming from her nose. The mother tried calling her husband and other relatives but did not get a response. She remembered the child was treated with Panadol when she visited the health centre last month and administered a dose of Panadol and gripe water before putting her back on the bed. In a statement on the executive council’s WhatsApp media chat on the night of May 15, she said, “I can confirm that a mother and baby passed away overnight and/or into the early hours of today (May 15). However, I am unable to provide any further details at this time as the matter is currently under investigation.” BYisrael expressed the division’s condolences to the families and friends who are left to mourn.

The Auditor General acted within the confines of her constitutional requirements as set down in section 116 of the Constitution. The Auditor General is appointed by the President in accordance with section 117 of the Constitution and therefore this is an independent office and it is clear that she has acted properly within the law. I wish to remind the Government that, in accordance with section 116(4), the Auditor General shall submit his/her reports to the Speaker of the House, the President of the Senate and the Minister of Finance. News Gregory Mc Burnie 7 Minutes Ago Police officer Dale Myers. A police officer has died after he was shot during what appears to be a botched robbery. Dale Myers was liming at a bar in Longdenville, Chaguanas with two friends in the night on May 13 when a man entered and announced a hold-up. Myers drew his licensed firearm and shot at the man. The gunman shot back, wounding Myers. Myers, who was last assigned to the Arima Police Station, was taken to hospital where he died while being treated. The gunman was held by police in the night on May 13 after he went to the Port of Spain General Hospital for treatment.

News Stephon Nicholas 5 Minutes Ago Chief Secretary Farley Augustine TWO years after promising to do so, Chief Secretary Farley Augustine has made wholesale changes to his Executive Council, including deciding to step down as Secretary of Finance, Trade and the Economy. In a media release on May 13, Augustine said he will be presenting his final THA budget in June. Among the other changes include a demotion for Terance Baynes, the former secretary for community development, youth development and sport. Baynes will now be an assistant secretary in the division of infrastructure, quarries and urban development. In a complete swap, Joel Sampson, who deputised in infrastructure, will take charge of the division of community development. Former assistant secretary of tourism Megan Morrison moves to a similar designation in the Division of Health, Wellness and Social Protection.
