Haiti’s Multinational Security Mission (MMS) has denied reports claiming that its soldiers were killed in clashes with armed gangs in Kenskòf.
In a press release published on Friday, February 21, the multinational force dismissed these claims as false and labeled them as propaganda. It did not say where the claims had been published or by whom.
According to the statement signed by the mission’s commander, Godfrey Otunge, the MMS confirmed: “MMS has not lost any personnel in any confrontation with gangs in Kenskòf.”
Furthermore, Otunge explained that his soldiers regained control of a station in Kenskòf that had been attacked by gangs. He also emphasized that MMS and the Haitian National Police are training and conducting joint operations together.
Finally, MMS stated that they remain focused on their mission while continuing to collaborate with the Haitian National Police.
